KL 98 In Remembrance

While waiting for the traffic light to turn green at the round about in Shah Alam, the KL 98 structure caught my eyes. More than 10 years had passed and it still stood strongly. The paint on the numbers had worn out, just like our memories of the hugely successfull event, I guess. Coincidentally, I found the long misplaced commemorative RM50 note issued to mark the event,at home. It was the first polymer banknote issued by Bank Negara. I remember taking Syam to Bukit Jalil a number of times during the Games. We took the LRT to avoid traffic jam. We just enjoyed the lively atmosphere and were happy to see many foreign visitors there. There were performances by local artists too. We met the KRU brothers who were friendly and sporting and I took a photo of Syam and Yusry. Wani missed the fun as she was preparing for her trial examination then. It was during that time that Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim was arrested. I received calls from friends and family who were worried for our safety during the "chaotic" time. At the stadium, we seemed oblivious of any danger. On our way back, there were many FRU personnel in Jalan Raja Laut and near the LRT station who told us to go home. Those were the days.......I do wish to cherish some and forget some of the happenings of KL 98.

Zairin-Oh...you're talking abt the demo at ITM long, long time ago. Yeah...it was a scary experience. The leader, Datuk Ibrahim Ali is now an Independent Member of Parliament
SitiHawa-Yo lah..lamo boto tak dongar berito. Paham..tak do internet, boring bona.
PI-Betul sgt tu. Yg dah jatuh, bangun je akan faham
Ouled-Pengalaman memang amat berharga utk mengajar kita erti kehidupan

Sorry I wasn't there to witness that event but I remember when you left on time before the police come into the campus. Just Yam and I were still at ITM when the Police/FRU comes in. We ran and crawl under the fence to get out… hmmm.... there were moment that we were having fun and not feeling scared. We were young to understand that we could be expelled and lose everything. We hitchhike to go back to PJ. Hmm.... those were the days.
We sacrificed for our young generation just to get the same status with the University. See what it is now UITM.
And insallah maybe Anwar Ibrahim could be a good leader or the same as others, Allahualam.

Mahalnya pengalaman itu tidak boleh dibayar dgn wang ringgit

Entryku kali ini

Indah tari bunga silat
Penuh muslihat menumpas lawan
Meluncur di air sepantas kilat
Terbang ke udara menggapai awan
