I Love Sydney.....

After 4 nights in Melbourne, we flew by Jetstar Airlines to Sydney. We had already prebooked our accommodation at Malaysia Hall and took a cab there. We were greeted by a friendly student/official of the Hall and proceeded to our spacious room overlooking the greenery of the race course. Once we put our luggages in, prayed......off we went on the bus to CBD to explore. The bus' last stop was at the Harbour, the very place we wanted to go. So, there we were looking at the world reknowned Harbour Bridge. We stopped to see a street performer. Must say that the buskers and other performers were really good. I wanted to buy the CD of a duo performance for Syam. Unfortunately, it was sold out and I had to get it online, if I wanted to. Met a couple of friendly Australians who greeted us with " Apa Kabar" It was fun sitting on the bench in between the malls, watched people go by. I love the old buildings, the Rocks market/shops. We heard about the Pancake at the Rocks and tried it. We made a mistake of ordering 3 plates. It was too much and left us with a feeling that we would not want a pancake for the rest of our lives. I love the Opera House area too. Finally, we got to see it right in front of our eyes. There were many people around that windy evening. We sat on the steps overlooking the sea and the parks. There was a wedding on and we managed to catch a glimse of the happy bride and her entourage, the truck show. We walked and sat on the green parks, admiring the many old trees there were and then walked round the government house on our way back to the bus station. It was a lovely feeling. No visit to Sydney is complete without visiting the Paddy Market in the Chinatown area. We managed to get good souvenir items at a stall popular with Malaysians. We had our late lunch of nasi lemak at a Malaysian Halal restaurant, More More Cha. There was a display of roti canai making by a Malay guy. Meals at Malaysia Hall was good too. We befriended the friendly Cafe operator, Suri Ibrahim, who has stayed in Sydney for over 16 years. She is on her path to get closer to Allah and I left my zikir book with her. Hopefully, she will find it beneficial as I do and will be istiqomah in reciting it daily.

Melbourne, Australia...

We left for Melbourne on 29th March 2012. Emailed my secondary school classmate for recommendation of accommodation, she offered us to stay at her house. The funny part is that we were there while she is back in Malaysia for a holiday. She left us her whole house and her Honda CRV. What a kind family. I really learn a lot of lesson of kindness from her. We stayed at her place for 4 nights. Visited 12 Apostle, 5 hours drive away at Great Ocean Road taking in the breathtaking beauty of the ocean and the magnificient rocks million of years in ages. Walked down and up the 86 Gibson Steps from the road to the beach. If not for my daily brisk walk, I would have suffered shortness of breath. Another unforgettable experience was the penguin parade. So amazing watching them coming back from the sea and walked in their cute little ways group by group, as though there was an instruction from somewhere. Kebesaran Allah.....SubhanAllah. Of course we went to Victoria Market where we bought souveniers at reasonable prices. Me being me, I love this part of travelling. I always buy for people first and then only for me. I want to share my joy with loved ones and friends who are unable to be here with me. I also brought Malaysian souvenirs and gave them to nice people I met along the way. My small way of introducing my home country to complete strangers. It gives me immense joy.....alhamdulillah.

After class, 3 of us usually will go for lunch together. As Subang Jaya does not have much varieties of Malay food, we will, sometimes, venture to Shah Alam where you are spoilt for choice. Anyway, we do remember to eat moderately and always make sure that all our drink is "kurang manis" We just want to have simple fun by chit chatting on our kids and share some tips or seek another's advice. Anyway, if we go back home, each would eat alone as the rest of the family members are at work. Anyway, it's great for silaturrahim.

Ani is one of my close friends from day one in the bank. We clicked the moment we met despite the 7 years age gap between us. She was and is always cheerful and positive and has a laughter which is so infectious. It was,of course a must for me to join her during the happy time of her eldest daughter's wedding on 3rd of March. I met many ex colleagues there too. I noticed that some of the Chinese friends really need a crash course in attending a Malay wedding function. Turning up in bermudas and t-shirts as though they were going to the market, was hardly appropriate. Have some respect for people's function. As in any other functions, we need to be properly attired. Everyone commented that I didn't look a day older, in fact younger than before. I thank God that He gives me inner peace in my simple life that probably makes me seemed so. While I'm thankful to my working days for providing food on the table/roof on my and the children's heads, it's the present life that I feel happy/blessed for. Time to catch up on loss spiritual knowledge, useful activities with my friends, time for my loved ones, smell flowers along the road and enjoy the chirping of countless birds around me. Not forgetting the antics of the little kittens at my backyard. PadaMu ku bersujud/bersyukur...Ya Allah.....
